Marc Romboy (born June 19, 1970 ) from Mönchengladbach is a German music producer , DJ , composer and label boss in the field of electronic music. He was also involved in music projects such as Marc Et Claude (together with partner Klaus Derichs).

Life

When Romboy began studying human medicine at the Heinrich Heine University in Düsseldorf in 1989 , he became a comrade in the up-and-coming Düsseldorf techno scene , which is mainly in clubs like Ratinger Hof , Relax and Tor 3, but also in record stores such as Sounds Good and Studio 33 Found breeding ground.

In 1992 Romboy released his first record under the pseudonym Unknown Structure on the Erkrath independent label Adam & Eve Records together with Jürgen Driessen , Stefan Bossems and Klaus Derichs.

In 1993 Romboy founded his first record label with Klaus Derichs called Le Petit Prince, which was named Label of the Year a year later in the German trade magazines Raveline and Groove and then brought to light world-famous chart acts such as RMB , Future Breeze and Emmanuel Top .

In 1998 Romboy published with Klaus Derichs and Jürgen Driessen under the pseudonym Marc Et Claude the title La , which reached the top 30 of the singles sales charts in Great Britain . In 2000 I Need Your Lovin '(Like The Sunshine) followed , a cover version of Everybody's Got To Learn Sometimes the Korgis . The title reached number 12 on the UK singles chart and was listed on the English edition of Top of the Pops .

In 2004, Marc Romboy founded the Systematic Recordings label, which produced productions by artists such as Stephan Bodzin , Laurent Garnier , Robert Babicz , Robert Owens, Blake Baxter and Romboy himself.

In 2006, Marc Romboy's album debut Gemini was released, followed by the mix CD Picture Of Now towards the end of the same year. His album Contrast was released in 2008 , followed by Luna in 2011 in cooperation with Stephan Bodzin. In 2012 Taiyo was released with the Japanese techno DJ Ken Ishii . In 2017, two neo-classical albums, Voyage De La Planète and Reconstructing Debussy were released with the Dortmund Philharmonic .

In December 2016 Romboy realized a classical concert in collaboration with the Dortmund Philharmonic and the violinist and concertmaster Miki Kekenj, in which, accompanied by experimental synthesizer sounds , he performed Claude Debussy's three-part work La Mer in a remix-like interpretation with the orchestra . The full length of the concert was broadcast on Boiler Room TV .

In addition to his own publications on labels such as Kompakt and Innervisions, Romboy has been touring the world since 2005 with performances in clubs and festivals. He played in all renowned clubs such as Berghain (Berlin), Watergate (Berlin), Rex (Paris), D-Edge (Sao Paulo), Womb (Tokyo) and Output (New York).
