The Lennerockers were a German band from Hagen - Hohenlimburg . The band was assigned to the rockabilly / rock 'n' roll . In the 32 years of their existence they have performed over 2,250 and sold over 55,000 records.

history

Were founded The Lennerockers early February 1984 by Michael Ele Koch (lead vocals, banjo, piano, percussion), Frank Butgereit (guitar, vocals), Stefan Koch (piano, blues harmonica, mandolin, drums, vocals), Dieter Korth ( Double bass) and Michael Schott (drums, washboard, vocals, left on December 31, 1991), all of whom have known each other since elementary school days. They gave their first concert on February 24, 1984. Željko "Subo" Subotic (drums, washboard, vocals) joined the band on January 1st, 1992 after the departure of drummer Michael Schott and stayed until December 31st, 2006. Since January 1st, 2007 Dirk "Magic" Mankel has been the regular drummer of the Hohenlimburg band . Since the turn of the year 2010/11, after Didi's resignation, the double bass was first played, climbed and otherwise misused by Chuck Shoker and from August 1, 2014 by bass specialist Chad Hawkins. When the Louisiana-born resident of Cologne, ex-bass man of the Silverettes, returned to his homeland, he suggested Claus Coxx from Duisburg, who immediately won over both the band and the fan base and has been part of the regular cast since November 18, 2015.

Inspired by the rock'n'roll era with their great idols Bill Haley , Jerry Lee Lewis , Brian Setzer , Johnny Cash , Stray Cats and many others, The Lennerockers sometimes play cover songs, but most of the pieces are by themselves.

The Lennerockers are in the Guinness Book of Records with the entry "the highest concert - altitude 11,948.16 meters", which they completed in a specially chartered plane during a fan trip to Mallorca.

They are also responsible for the deepest rock'n'roll concert in music history: 502 meters underground in the Merkers adventure mine in the Thuringian Forest near Eisenach.

In 2011 the band signed their first record deal with the Hamburg-based label AGR Television Records and released their first best-of album on November 25, 2011, entitled High Class Lady - Best of The Lennerockers , with 17 of the band's most popular songs and three new compositions.

In 2013 the band recorded a new album. Rustin 'and Rollin' is the name of the album, which was released in October 2013. The album has 14 tracks, including nine original compositions and five cover versions, which the band has played on stage for years.

In February 2016 the band announced their breakup at the end of the year, along with the obligatory farewell concert.

Splitting up

After the Lennerockers dissolved, their musicians formed two new bands. The former front man Michael “Ele” Koch and his brother Stefan “Teddy” Koch formed the new formation “LenneBrothers Band” together with Claus Coxx. Frank "Butti" Butgereit and Dirk Mankel formed the "Lennerockets". Other musicians were added to both bands.
