The Manipulator (1982–1994) was a magazine by the artists Wilhelm Moser and David Colby and, measuring 50 × 70 cm, was the largest magazine ever printed.

The first issue appeared in 1982, the magazine produced and portrayed stars from the fields of fashion , photography , architecture , design , film and art . Wilhelm Moser and David Colby, both from the circle of Andy Warhol gallery artist Charles Cowles , were named in the 1980s by London ID Magazine as one of the ten best publishers in the world with the greatest influence in terms of style and trends, and they have made one high to this day endowed, worldwide coveted art magazine on printed paper with the unusual dimensions of 50 × 70 cm.

The Manipulator magazine originated in the 1980s as the power of the media began to grow. Inspired by this analysis, the title “The Manipulator” was created - “Put something big in the newspaper and it suddenly has meaning! And: Size matters! ”The two took their word for it back then in Düsseldorf.

Andy Warhol initiated the era of “independent publishing” in an interview. In addition to classic glossy magazines, there were from then on special-interest papers such as The Face or Details . Egoiste , ID , Blitz , Metropolis , Vibe and Visionaire followed in the mid-1980s .
