The Maw is an action-adventure game developed by Twisted Pixel Games and Hothead Games . It was released by Capcom and Microsoft Game Studios in 2009.
action
The game begins with Frank and Maw, a purple one-eyed creature who were both captured by galactic bounty hunters . For reasons unknown, the spaceship crashes on an unknown planet , killing everyone on board except Frank and Maw. Together they make their way to a radio tower and on the way to the tower they have to escape various bounty hunters who they want to kidnap again.
Gameplay
The Maw is set in a futuristic distant universe . In the game, the player controls the character Frank, who in turn controls the Alien Maw via an electric cord. Maw has the ability to eat various objects and opponents and thereby takes on the abilities they have. The player then uses these skills of Maw to navigate through the levels and to get through previously insurmountable level sections.
development
Twisted Pixel Games announced in June 2008 that they would publish their debut The Maw . The name pays homage to the final level in Halo's single-player campaign : Fight for the Future . Hothead Games took over the development for Microsoft Windows , later Bluepin developed an adaptation for the PlayStation Vita . Twisted Pixel initially announced that three levels would be released as DLC : Brute Force , River Redirect and Speeder Lane . The new levels are integrated into the main story at various points and appeared in 2009.
