The NULLL Collective is a funeral doom band founded in 2009 . Due to the musicians involved, the project is considered a multinational funeral doom supergroup .

history

The American EM Hearst, of Torture Wheel and Wraith of the Ropes , and the Belgian Stijn Van Cauter , of Until Death Overtakes Me and Wijlen Wij , completed in 2009, the joint project of The Sad Sun after two split - EPs with a self-titled demo . Subsequently, both invited the British SP White from Uncertainty Principle and Thoraxembalmer to design a project based on The Sad Sun. Right from the start, the musicians shared the instrumentation and vocals without committing to specific instruments within the group. There was no information about the instruments played. All three musicians were previously increasingly popular for solo projects. Within a year the group released five download singles on van Cauter's label Nulll Records and the album De Monstris on Aesthetic Death Records . The album was positively assessed and described as an essential work of extreme Doom, which cannot be ignored .

The two most recently released singles were announced by the group as anticipatory work on the planned second album. However, there was no further publication. Kostas Panagiotou , with whom van Cauter played in the band Wijlen Wij, stated in July 2016 that van Cauter had largely given up music. Although van Cauter released a download single of Until Death Overtakes Me in August of the same year, the future of The NULLL Collective is uncertain.

style

The music from The NULLL Collective is classified as Funeral Doom. The rhythm is generated by a drum computer and is kept mostly slow, according to the genre. The tempo outbreaks contained in it go towards blastbeats . The keyboard and synthesizer tracks are described as cinematic and sober . The guttural growling is said to be obsessive, emotional, and gloomy . The heavily distorted guitar playing is said to be a mixture of antediluvian riffs and toxic leads .
