Stijn van Cauter is a Belgian musician , record producer and label owner.

Career

Van Cauter became known as a musician in various funeral doom groups in the 2000s. He plays keyboard , electric guitar , electric bass and synthesizer . He also appears as a singer and producer. As operator of the independent label Nulll Records , he mainly published his own projects, but also other artists of extreme Doom Metal , post-industrial and ambient . In 2011 van Cauter temporarily stopped producing other music. Since 2016 he has reactivated various projects and initiated new ones. The label did not take up any new activity. Van Cauter publishes a large part of his music as a download , some as a free download. According to van Cauter, this should promote the exchange, in addition, the additional costs of producing a physical sound carrier and shipping when downloading would be excluded and the music would be in the foreground. As a new label he founded VOid Overflow, through which he releases music as a free download. In addition, van Cauter started producing browser games and webcomics after 2011 .

The solo project Until Death Overtakes Me , the band Wijlen Wij , founded with Kostas Panagiotou and Lawrence Van Haecke, and the international genre supergroup The NULLL Collective are counted among the most popular performers with his participation . In addition, van Cauter runs a large number of solo projects that often only differ in conceptual nuances or follow experimental ideas. In addition to Funeral Doom, van Cauter also plays Ambient and Dark Ambient in projects such as I Dream No More , Drone Doom with Arcane Voidsplitter and Death Doom and Gothic Metal with In Somnis .
