The Narrative is an American indie rock duo from New York that consists of Suzie Zeldin and Jesse Gabriel. Her debut album The Narrative was released in 2010.
history
In 2006 Jesse Gabriel decided to find some musicians to start a musical project with. Because of this, he posted an ad on Craigslist looking for musical support. After a few replies to his ad, he came across Suzie Zeldin's, who was also on the lookout for musicians. The two decided to meet and found that they were both at the same school in Bellmore , Long Island, but never met. The two decided to make music after the meeting and called their band "January Window" before renaming it The Narrative. The first song they released was a demo version of "End All" on January 1st, 2007, which later featured on their first album. In the beginning Gabriel didn't want to sing, but Zeldin asked him if he couldn't even sing "Slide" from the Goo Goo Dolls . Zeldin was pleased with his voice that he was included in lead vocals and background vocals. Later the drummer Charles Seich joined the band to record their first EP. In 2007 Zeldin was part of various band projects, where she performed the song "I'm Breathing ... Are You Breathing Too?" from Envy on the Coast sings. Even before her time at The Narrative, Suzie released solo material, for example the EP "Excuses", which contains four songs.
The next few years (2007-08) the band spent a lot of time in Suzie's cramped Upper West Side apartment, where they wrote songs for their first EP Just Say Yes . "We're really just excited to record our developed songs," Jesse said in an interview. The EP was produced by Bryan Russell, who offered the group direct help to develop their sound, influenced by bands like Death Cab for Cutie , Jimmy Eat World or Brand New . Just Say Yes was released on August 30, 2008 regardless of a record deal or label.
