The Roxx is a German heavy metal band.
history
The Roxx was founded in 1984 in Munich by singer and songwriter Bill Itch. The Roxx 'debut album Sugar and Spice was released in 1986. It was noticeable that it did without the guitar solos typical of the genre and was wrapped in bubble wrap. The songs Boy Bitch and On The Roxx became famous in southern Germany because they were featured on the Munich City Nights samplers, which are often used by DJs .
In 1988 the album Watch Us Cum was released on Intercord . Watch Us Cum appeared in other versions as a bootleg, u. a. from Russia, under the titles Molton Metal and Get It Hot . Due to the vocal closeness, the Russian bootleg was offered as an unreleased solo album by Rob Halford ( Judas Priest ).
In 1988 guitarist Hermann Janowitz (formerly with the band Railway ) died while recording the album Chills Down Your Spine , which was subsequently unreleased. In 1990 the double album Sex & Roxx & Rock 'n' Roll was released . The single Wild Thing (a cover version of the Troggs' song ) was released as a vinyl maxi that was packed in a pizza box.
In 1992 the album No Sole Messiah was released. The Roxx was accompanied by the Munich Dixieland band Hot Dogs for the song The Way to Babylon . In 1994 the live album Wild Things Live was released . The Roxx broke up in 1995 during the recording of the planned album Dominator . Dominator was only released as a bootleg.
In 2006 Bill Itch put The Roxx together again. The EP Trigger / RIP was released . In 2007 the album Unleash Your Demon came out . In 2008, The Roxx gave concerts in Germany, Austria, the Czech Republic, Hungary and Switzerland. In 2008 the live DVD The Roxx Unleash The Demon and the double CD History Decade One 1984-1994 were released . In 2009 The Roxx released the album Ironic Truth . On March 1, 2013, the album To Heaven With Hell was released .
style
Stylistically, The Roxx is close to the New Wave of British Heavy Metal . The band's music is partly experimental due to the combination of classic heavy metal with genre-untypical elements. For the visualization of the lyrics, The Roxx works with dramaturgical elements from extras and scenery at live concerts.
