The Showdown is a US-based Christian heavy metal / southern rock - band from Elizabethton ( Tennessee ). The band has existed since 2002.

history

The band was founded in 2002 as a pop / punk band called 2540. This name referred to the Gospel of Matthew chapter 25, verse 40. The founding members included brothers Daniel and Jeremy Swain (drums and guitar) and Travis Bailey (bass). A short time later the singer David Bunton joined the band. After the Swain brothers left the band for school and professional reasons, Bailey switched to guitar. Andrew Hall became the new drummer. Reverb changed the music slightly towards metalcore . At Hall's suggestion, the band changed their name to The Showdown.

In 2004 the debut album A Chorus of Obliteration was released and The Showdown toured North America with bands such as Trivium , Flyleaf and Underoath . In late 2006, Hall left the band to become a professional wrestler with the WWE . AJ Berette (ex- Still Remains ) became the new drummer . In February 2007 the second album Temptation Come My Way appears , which is published in Europe by Century Media . In February 2008, Travis Bailey announced his departure for family reasons.
