The Soviet Story

The Soviet Story is a 2008 documentary about Soviet communism and Soviet- German cooperation before 1941 . The director was the Latvian Edvins Šnore , who also wrote the script. The film was sponsored by the UEN group of the European Parliament.

The film lets Western and Russian historians have their say, such as Norman Davies and Boris Sokolow , the author Viktor Suvorov , the Soviet dissident Vladimir Bukovsky , members of the European Parliament and perpetrators and victims of the Soviet terror of the Stalin era.

The film argues that there were close philosophical, political, and organizational ties between the Nazi and Soviet systems before and during the early stages of World War II . It deals with the Great Purge , the Holodomor , the Molotov-Ribbentrop Pact , the Katyn massacre , Gestapo - NKVD cooperation, the Soviet mass deportations and the medical experiments in the Gulag camps .

In July 2011, a German-language version of the film was released on DVD by Kopp Verlag after it had not been distributed in German-speaking Europe for three years. The German title is Soviet Story .
