The Spire (English for the tip ) is a striking and over 2600 m high rock needle in East Antarctic Victoria Land . It rises at the western end of Rampart Ridge in the Royal Society Range .
Members of the northern New Zealand geodetic team in the Commonwealth Trans-Antarctic Expedition (1955-1958) gave the formation its descriptive name in February 1957 in the course of survey work.
