The Waist (English for the waist ) is a narrow mountain pass in northern Grahamland on the Antarctic Peninsula . It connects the Herbert Plateau with the Foster Plateau .
Aerial photographs of the Falkland Islands and Dependencies Aerial Survey Expedition from 1956 to 1957 were used for mapping. The UK Antarctic Place-Names Committee descriptively named it in 1960.
