Thea Derado

Thea Derado (née Köhler ; * 1936 in Leipzig ) is a German biochemist and author.

Life

After studying chemistry in Leipzig and Munich , she completed her doctorate at the Max Planck Institute for Biochemistry , Munich, under the direction of Adolf Butenandt . 1964 to 1968 followed a stay in the USA with a Fulbright travel grant, including at the McArdle Laboratory for Cancer Research with Howard M. Temin . From 1970 to 1992 she taught at the European Division of the University of Maryland in Munich.

Derado wrote articles in the Naturwissenschaftlichen Rundschau .

When she reached retirement age, she began writing fiction and creating short stories in anthologies .

She is married to the physicist Ivan Derado and is the mother of Nadya and Tino Derado and lives in Munich.
