Thea Labes
Thea Labes (born March 21, 1937 in Stralsund ; † October 13, 2011 in Berlin ) was a German church musician .
Live and act
Thea Labes grew up in Stralsund. Her grandfather was an organist there and gave her a love of music. In 1951 she began studying church music in Greifswald , which she continued a year later in Dresden . There she passed her exam in 1956. She began her church music activity in 1957 in Belzig . She founded the Belziger Kantorei and performed, mostly with the DEFA symphony orchestra , almost all important church music works from the Baroque era. In 1980 she took part in the International Antonio Soler Ceremony with three concerts .
At the suggestion of her superintendent Günter Krolzig, she later dealt in particular with the works of the composer Carl Gottlieb Reissiger , in whose house she lived.
In 2003 she and her music friends founded the Reissiger Society. V.
In 2007 she was given honorary citizenship of the city of Belzig.
