The team theater is a private theater in Munich .

history

The Teamtheater was initially a project from the 1985 Theater at the inlet in the rooms at the inlet 4 in Gärtnerplatzviertel emerged. Under the direction of Stephan Märki with Arnolt Bronnen parricide was first under the new name on 20 September 1985 Teamtheater played. Formative for the early days of team theater were productions like Butterbrot by Gabriel Barylli and Barefoot in the Park by Neil Simon .

In 1992 there was the opportunity to get a second room, a former gas station, in the neighboring building, Am Einlaß 2a: The TANKSTELLE team theater with 99 seats was created. Theater life moved into the new house on July 9, 1992 with Marivaux's The Game of Love and Chance . This was followed, under the direction of Stephan Märki, by plays such as The Last Things by FK Waechter , Weibsteufel by Karl Schönherr and Shakespeare's Macbeth staged by Petra Maria Grühn .

After only two years, the ambitious project was facing financial failure - the city of Munich changed its funding guidelines at short notice and no longer considered the team theater. Stephan Märki's team broke up. When the end of the gas station had already been announced in 1994, Petra Maria Grühn decided to return from Paris to Munich to make a fresh start at the gas station.

The first in-house production under new management then premiered on October 4, 1994: The tropical tree by Yukio Mishima , directed by Petra Maria Grühn. After the first difficult years without public funding, received in 1995 the independent group Compagnie Anteros, also run Petra Maria Grühn for The Short Life of snow clouds of Wolfgang Bauer urban development funds and so the game operation could be continued. From 1996 the Teamtheater petrol station received regular public grants, most recently the expert jury awarded it the highest amount of funding in the field of independent theater. From the beginning, due to Grühn's ties to France, the theater had an emphasis on French works, with ensembles from France performing regularly in Munich.

The unsubsidized team theater SALON , also under the direction of Petra Maria Grühn , now plays in the rooms of the original theater .
