history

The history of the theater goes back to the Society for Free Theater Culture Buffo eV, founded in 1990 in Hildesheim by students and graduates of the cultural education course (later cultural studies and aesthetic practice ) at the University of Hildesheim , which mainly used the premises of the Kulturfabrik Löseke society .

In 1999 the name was changed to Theaterhaus Hildesheim eV and the Theaterhaus am Ostertor moved into. In addition to the organization of festivals, there were collaborations with the theater institute of the University of Hildesheim and the Hildesheim City Theater . In 2001 the theater at Ostertor had to close due to financial bottlenecks. In the following year, the association moved into the former storage rooms of the textile and trading company Langer Garten 23 c in the north of the city .
