Thekla Lingen

Thekla Lingen (born March 6 or 18, 1866 in Goldingen / Kurland ; died November 7, 1931 in Eittenau or Eitenau ) was a German writer .

Life

She made an early decision to become an actress and pursued this career in Saint Petersburg from 1880 until she married. After that, she continued to circulate in the German-speaking districts of the city. A first volume of poetry appeared in Berlin in 1898 and received a lot of attention. After collecting a second collection of poems and a volume of novels in the following years, she gave up journalism. Nothing is known about her further life except for the fact that she died in a psychiatric hospital.

Between 1900 and 1914, some of her poems were set to songs by Franz Dannehl, Franz Bachmann and Alexander von Zemlinsky . Gisela Brinker-Gabler re -edited some of her poems in 1978.
