Thelma Herdlitz , or Herdlitzka , married Taigny , (* 1818 in Bordeaux , † 1896 ) was a French stage actress.

biography

Herdlitz's mother and grandmother had been actresses themselves and she had learned the trade from them. When she was eight years old, her cousin, Émile Taigny , made a guest appearance in Bordeaux. This is how she met her future husband.

Before going to Paris with her mother, Herdliz had already gained stage experience in Bordeaux, Lyon and Rouen . On the recommendation of the conductor, Herdlitz was engaged at the Théâtre des Variétés . There she played almost every day with her husband Émile in numerous vaudevilles . From 1838 to 1840, the two toured the province. In contrast to her husband, she continued to be successful, but then took on the engagement there in 1850, when Émile took over the Théâtre des Délassements-Comiques . She played on the stage until 1852, from which she then retired at the age of 34 to take over the management of the costume department. After leaving the Théâtre des Délassements – Comiques, she worked for the Théâtre de la Gaîté for a long time , also in the costume department.

Herdlitz worked until 1877, when he retired. She received a pension of 500 francs until the end of her life.

In her youth she was a much-vaunted beauty who enchanted audiences with great acting talent.
