Theo Langheid

Theo Langheid (* 1952 in Oberhausen ) is a German lawyer specializing in insurance law .

Life

Langheid studied law at the University of Cologne from 1970. After passing the second state examination in law, he first worked from 1978 at the law firm Friedrich Graf von Westphalen. He later became a specialist lawyer for insurance law. He received his PhD in 1984 on a subject on British constitutional law. In the same year Langheid co-founded the Cologne law firm Bach & Langheid. From 1984 to 1989 Langheid worked as a research assistant for the constitutional law teacher Prof. Dr. Martin Kriele worked at the University of Cologne, he also taught from 1986 to 1994 as a lecturer at the Cologne University of Applied Sciences . In 2005 he was appointed lecturer at the University of Frankfurt am Main .

Langheid was co-editor of the monthly "Recht & Schaden" (r + s) and is a member of the editorial team of the magazine for insurance law . He is also co-editor and co-author of the Langheid / Rixecker, Commentary on the VVG, 6th edition 2019, and the Munich Commentary on the Insurance Contract Act , 2nd edition, 2018, both published by CH Beck . In 2004 he was appointed by the federal government to the so-called VVG reform commission, which drafted the new Insurance Contract Act (VVG) in its 2008 version. He is also a member of the board of the "AIDA Reinsurance and Insurance Arbitration Society" (ARIAS) and President of the European umbrella organization "ARIAS Europe". On December 21, 2010 he founded the "Anthony Powell Society" in Cologne, of which he has been President since then, which is dedicated to the dissemination of Anthony Powell's novels in German-speaking countries.
