Wolfgang Römer

Wolfgang Römer (born June 11, 1936 in Düsseldorf ) was a judge at the Federal Court of Justice from 1990 to 2001 .

Life

After completing his school education, Römer began a commercial apprenticeship in 1951. In 1954 he passed the examination to become a commercial assistant . Following this, the Romans had to 1961 worked before it on as a businessman second chance in 1965 on a night school , the High School took off and thereafter the study of law recorded. After his termination, Römer joined the judicial service of the state of North Rhine-Westphalia in 1974 and was appointed judge for life in 1977. He was then, interrupted by a three-year secondment as a research assistant at the Federal Court of Justice, as a judge at the Düsseldorf Regional Court and - after his appointment as a judge at the Higher Regional Court in 1982 - also at the Düsseldorf Higher Regional Court .

In 1990 Römer was appointed judge at the Federal Court of Justice. The Presidium assigned him to the 4th Civil Senate , of which he was a member during his entire time at the Federal Court of Justice. On June 30, 2001, Römer retired.

From October 1, 2001 to March 31, 2008, Wolfgang Römer was ombudsman for insurance companies; since April 1, 2008 Prof. Dr. Günter Hirsch his successor.
