The earliest sculptural works by Lauritzen, e.g. B. Piccolo player (1946) or horse with rider (1945) are still kept in the classic style. At the end of the 1940s he transformed his figures visibly upwards, making thin and larger-than-life sculptures reduced to a few elements. Countless drawings, sketches and smaller models led him to the shape he was looking for. Examples of these works are The Newspaper Seller (1951) in the Basel University Library or Man with Fish (1966), a drinking fountain figure from the Gotthelf School in Basel. His last major work is abstract and is called Game with Two Squares (1975). Iron plates lie and rise from the ground, "like a flock of birds about to take off".
