Theo Magin

Theo Magin (born December 15, 1932 in Schifferstadt ) is a German politician ( CDU ).

Life

After attending primary school and the advanced high school , Theo Magin passed the Abitur examination in Speyer in 1953. He studied at the Landau University of Education and at the University of Heidelberg and became vice rector . From 1962 he was a member of the city council of Schifferstadt, from 1966 first alderman . In 1968 he was elected to the Rhineland-Palatinate state parliament for the first time , to which he was to belong until 1980, from 1975 as the parliamentary manager of the CDU parliamentary group. In 1968 he became chairman of the Speyer district association of the CDU, in 1969 - after the district reform - of the Ludwigshafen-Land district association; he held this office until 1994. The pedagogue was full-time mayor of Schifferstadt from 1971 to 1975. From 1974 to 1999 he was a member of the Palatinate District Parliament . From 1980 to 1994 (9th to 12th electoral term) Magin was a direct candidate for the Neustadt - Speyer constituency and a member of the German Bundestag . He was president of the German Association of Towns and Municipalities three times : from 1983 to 1985, from 1988 to 1990 and finally from 1992 to 1994. He is Catholic and married.

Honors

1995 Schifferstadt made Theo Magin an honorary citizen . In 1996 he received the Great Cross of Merit with Star of the Order of Merit of the Federal Republic of Germany . The District Association of the Palatinate awarded him the coat of arms in 1999. He is also the holder of the Freiherr vom Stein plaque . Theo Magin is honorary chairman of the CDU district association Rhein-Pfalz.
