Theo Paul

Theo Paul (born December 27, 1953 in Laer ) has been Vicar General in the Diocese of Osnabrück since January 1997 . This is the longest-serving vicar general in Germany.

Life

After training as an industrial clerk he made his high school and studied in Frankfurt and Münster theology . He wrote his diploma thesis on the topic The Church on the Way to the Poor. A confrontation of the theology of liberation (after L. Boff) with problems of the European church . In 1981 he was ordained a priest. He then worked in Meppen , Haren (Ems) and Lemförde . He was department head in the Vicariate General, pastoral minister for women, President of the Christian Workers 'Youth (CAJ) and President of the Catholic Workers' Movement in the Diocese of Osnabrück. He celebrated his silver jubilee as a priest in December 2006. Theo Paul has been Chairman of the Misereor Board of Directors since 2010 . He has been chairman of the German Catholic Hospital Association (KKVD) since 2011. For his role in the amalgamation of hospitals in the Diocese of Osnabrück, he was criticized by politicians of the CDU in Meppen.
