Theobald Rehbaum

Theobald Rehbaum (born August 7, 1835 Berlin ; † March 2, 1918 ibid) was a German violinist , librettist and composer .

Life

Rehbaum grew up in Berlin and sang in the Royal Cathedral Choir as a boy . He studied violin and composition with Friedrich Kiel and composition with Hubertus Rios . Rehbaum composed various operas and choral works, but was much more successful as a librettist and wrote several texts for Bernhard Scholz .

He also wrote a violin school for self-tuition for violinists and an autobiography entitled Experienced and Strived for .
