Theodor Klüber

Theodor Klüber (born May 7, 1905 in Schweinfurt ; † May 10, 1982 in Switzerland ) was a German entrepreneur .

Life

Theodor Klüber attended the humanistic grammar schools in Schweinfurt and Augsburg. He then completed a two-year apprenticeship as a druggist and gained his first professional experience. In 1925 he joined the mineral oil wholesaler Jacob Böhm in Munich and was appointed authorized signatory in 1926.

On April 1, 1929, he founded his own company in Munich, the retail company "Theodor Klüber" for mineral oil products, with the intention of developing and manufacturing specialty lubricants that should be unique in their quality. After the interruption caused by the Second World War, the company's development continued on the company's premises in Munich. Theodor Klüber dedicated himself to the reconstruction, supported by his employees. He left the operation of gas stations and finally turned to the development and production of specialty lubricants, which were required by the industry.

The first foreign subsidiary was founded in Belgium in 1958 ; further sales and production facilities followed worldwide. In 1959 the internationality also had an influence on the company name, the new company name became Klüber Lubrication .

His unstable state of health prompted Klüber to look for a company that would continue the company in his favor. The acquaintance with Richard Freudenberg finally led Theodor Klüber to sell his company to the Freudenberg Group based in Weinheim in 1966 . He remained Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Klüber Lubrication until 1980.

Theodor Klüber was athletic. Football was a passion as an active player and goalkeeper. The musical evergreen from 1950 "Theodor, the Theodor, who stands in our soccer goal" was dedicated to Theodor Klüber in 1948 by the composer Werner Bochmann ; both knew each other from their common residence in Schliersee in Bavaria .
