Theodor Gustav Hermann Adam Krummacher (* 1867 in Halberstadt , † 1945 in Potsdam ) was a German Protestant theologian.

Life

Theodor Krummacher was the son of the cathedral preacher Cornelius Friedrich Adolf Krummacher and grandson of the theologian Friedrich Wilhelm Krummacher . He was married to Elisabeth von der Goltz , sister of the officer Rüdiger von der Goltz .

After studying theology, he was appointed pastor at the Friedenskirche in Potsdam. After a few years he was brought to the same office at the Kaiser Wilhelm Memorial Church in Berlin .

It was there that Empress Auguste (1858–1921), wife of Wilhelm II, noticed him and in 1910 won him as a chaplain for the Empress Augusta Foundation founded in 1871 by her grandmother-in-law, Empress Augusta (1811–1890), wife of Wilhelm I whose patronage she had taken in 1890. Krummacher devoted himself to this task for over 25 years and was one of the most important pastors of the imperial family in Potsdam during these years. In 1937 he published an autobiography entitled Memories from Office and Home . Because of its proximity to the German imperial family, these read like a “Berlin who's who of the imperial era” and therefore still have cultural and historical value today. Marie Bode calls him "the persona gratissima at the whole court" in her diaries.

As a pastor at the Kaiser Wilhelm Memorial Church , he gave the commemorative speech at the funeral service before the funeral of the writer Julius Wolff in 1910 .

His son Friedrich-Wilhelm Krummacher was bishop in Greifswald.
