Theodor Lachmann (born June 25, 1835 in Konstanz , † April 25, 1918 in Überlingen ) was a German doctor, folklorist and local researcher.

Live and act

Theodor Lachmann was the son of a professor of mathematics at the Konstanz Lyceum. After studying medicine, Lachmann settled as a general practitioner in Überlingen, where he married the daughter of the politician, publisher and local researcher Franz Xaver Ullersberger (1807–1888). His most important publication, the “Überlinger Sagas Collection”, grew out of conversations with his patients. In addition, since 1870 he has been collecting a collection of antiquities on Überlingen's history, which formed the basis of the city museum, which was set up in 1913 by Victor Mezger in the Reichlin-von-Meldegg-Haus . Theodor Lachmann was a founding member of the Association for the History of Lake Constance and its Surroundings , which he served in various functions, for which he was made an honorary member in 1910.

Theodor-Lachmann-Straße on the Burgberg in Überlingen is named after him.
