Theodore Jacobsen
Theodore Jacobsen († May 25, 1772 in London ) was an architect of German origin who worked in London.
Life
Nothing is known about Jacobsen's place of birth, presumably London, or education. He is said to have been of Hanseatic origin. His family lived near the Stalhof at the time of the Great Fire of London . An ancestor of the same name was ambassador for the Hanseatic cities of Bremen, Hamburg and Lübeck at the court of St. James from 1680–1706 and had a dispute with the cities. As a merchant and architect, he lived on Basinghall Street near the Guildhall . He was favored in from the Hanseatic community of London traffic, Church All Hallows-the-Great in the Thames Street buried. According to Thieme-Becker (1925) , his portrait, painted by Thomas Hudson , was in the Foundling Hospital .
