Heřmanova Huť (German Hermannshütte ) is a municipality in the Czech Republic . It is located in the south of the Plzeň-Nord district , about 25 kilometers west of the city of Plzeň on the Dálnice 5 motorway . Žilov borders on Přehýšov to the south and east and Hněvnice to the north . The municipality was created in 1954 through the merger of the municipalities Vlkýš, Horní Sekyřany and Dolní Sekyřany.
history
The first signs of settlement in what is now Heřmanova Huť come from the Bronze Age. 1849–1854 Hermann Dietrich Lindheim founded Eisenwerke Hermannshütte and acquired ore deposits that employed up to 2000 workers in the best of times. At the beginning of the 20th century, due to strong competition from Kladno , the ironworks was converted into a glass factory. To this day, glass products for gastronomy are manufactured here.
Districts
The community consists of the districts Dolní Sekyřany (Lower Sekerschan), Horní Sekyřany (Upper Sekyřany) and Vlkýš (Wilkischen).
