Theon Cross
Theon Cross (* 1993 in Brockley , London ) is a British jazz musician ( tuba , also trombone ) who uses the tuba both as a (sometimes electronic sounding) bass and as a percussion instrument.
At the age of eight, Cross began to play the tenor horn at the request of his parents ; then he switched to the euphonium . After school, he graduated from the Guildhall School of Music . In the context of Tomorrow's Warriors , he has played with the Sons of Kemet around Shabaka Hutchings since 2015 and in the groups of Nubya Garcia and Moses Boyd , with whom he has released several albums and toured internationally. Garcia and Boyd are also part of his trio, with whom he released his debut album Fyah in 2019 . He can also be heard albums with Makaya McCraven , Ayumi Hamasaki , the SEED Ensemble and the Ezra Collective .
