Theoretical and Applied Climatology is a monthly peer-reviewed scientific journal published by Springer . The journal was founded in 1949 as General and Biological Climatology . It has been renamed several times since then. Chief Editor is Hartmut Grassl , who before his retirement u. a. Director of the Max Planck Institute for Meteorology was.
The journal publishes scientific papers on climate research , atmospheric research and meteorology . These include studies on climate modeling , climate change and climate prediction, studies on applied meteorology , for example in agriculture and forestry, and biometeorology . Works on radiation problems that have an impact on the biosphere , anthropogenic or naturally caused aerosols and technical aspects of meteorological measurements are also published.
The impact factor in 2016 was 2.640, the five-year impact factor 2.621. This placed the journal in 30th place out of 85 journals in the two-year Impact Factor in the “Meteorology and Atmospheric Sciences” category.
