Theresienspital Foundation
The Theresienspitalstiftung was founded by the Bavarian Queen Therese . The main task of the foundation is to run a hospital in the city of Bad Kissingen .
History of the foundation
In 1833 Queen Therese of Bavaria initiated the construction of a hospital in Bad Kissingen . However, it was not until six years later that the Queen issued a decree declaring the foundation of the foundation. King Ludwig I confirmed this decree with his signature. The aim of the foundation was to offer sick employees and less well-off people in the spa town a place of convalescence. Immediately after this establishment, the first Theresienspital was built in the Maxstraße crossing Spitalgasse. The spa doctor Johann Adam Maas was one of the foundation's early supporters and activists .
Between 1894 and 1895 the new Theresienkrankenhaus was built in the upper half of Maxstraße. This new hospital has been rebuilt several times. In this role it was operated until 2003. The structural reforms in the health system led to the property being leased to the Diakonisches Werk . A retirement and nursing home has been operating there since then .
The Foundation in the Present
The foundation was responsible for the Theresienkrankenhaus in Bad Kissingen until 2003. With the conversion of the hospital, the original purpose of the foundation was lost. The administrative board of the foundation (the respective Catholic city pastor , the board of directors of the municipal administration (today mayor ) and the district court doctor (today head of the district's health department ) therefore decided to realign the foundation. Since then, the foundation has supported and promoted local social institutions. The purpose of the foundation is clearly limited to the city of Kissingen. Child and youth work is supported as well as migrant work . Local drug counseling and Caritas also receive regular support.
