Career
The goalkeeper Manfred Kubik was active in his youth with the clubs Preussen Krefeld , VfR Fischeln , MSV Duisburg and, from 1984, Bayer 05 Uerdingen . With Bayer's A-Jugend he reached the Niederrhein Championship in 1985, but failed in the games for the German championship at Borussia Dortmund . Before the 1985/86 round he received a contract for the Bayer 05 licensed squad. He made his Bundesliga debut on September 27, 1985, when he came into the game for Frank Kirchhoff in the 14th minute of the game against 1. FC Saarbrücken . Regular goalkeeper Werner Vollack had been sent off. The 18-year-old Kubik was also in goal for the suspended Vollack in the next league games, but only became a regular goalkeeper during the 1987/88 season. On September 23, 1986 he was substituted in Copenhagen by DFB coach Berti Vogts for Bodo Illgner in the international match of the junior national team U-21 against Denmark (0-0).
For the 1990/91 season he moved to SV Meppen in the 2nd Bundesliga . There he was a regular goalkeeper until 1994. In the 1993/94 season, he finished seventh with Meppen in the 2nd Bundesliga. This was followed by a season with league rivals 1. FC Saarbrücken , in which he could not prevail against Stephan Straub . In 1995 he ended his professional career. He then played for the regional league team FSV Salmrohr (1995/96) and the upper division club FC Wegberg-Beeck and Wuppertaler SV , Viktoria Goch and TuRU Düsseldorf .
