The Bad Wörishofen thermal bath is a thermal bath in the Bad Wörishofen Kneipport . The minimum age for access to the thermal bath and sauna area is 16 years, the blueFUN sports and family pool has no age limit . history

The first thoughts on building a thermal bath in Bad Wörishofen go back to 1994. When these plans became more concrete in 1998, there were disputes between supporters and opponents of the project in the spa town, who feared that the Kneipp cure would be “watered down”. In May 1999 the city council passed a development plan which was supposed to enable the construction of a thermal bath, but which excluded the construction of hotels and the like in the immediate vicinity.

Basically, the plans to build a thermal bath on site met with skepticism; On November 10, 1999, the initiators of a referendum gave the mayor 1,220 signatures for their demand that the municipality should not contribute financially to the construction or operation of the future pool. In its subsequent meeting, the city council passed the resolution to comply with the petition. Nevertheless, the city joined the previously founded "GmbH for the promotion of cure and tourism in the Kneippland Unterallgäu as well as for the development and preparation of a thermal bath in the area of the city of Bad Wörishofen".

In the meantime, investors were also considering building the thermal bath in the nearby Ostallgäu town of Buchloe and not in Bad Wörishofen.

In February 2001, the investor Josef Wund presented his plans for the construction of the thermal bath to the Bad Wörishofer city council. The building application was then submitted to the Unterallgäu district office in mid-February.

The groundbreaking ceremony took place on July 12, 2001 in the presence of Minister of State Erwin Huber, Member of the State Parliament, District Administrator Hermann Haisch, Member of the Parliament Klaus Holetschek and Mayor Erwin Singer as well as the client Josef Wund.

The construction turned out to be difficult, as a meter-thick layer of humus had to be removed and a total of 32,000 cubic meters of gravel had to be piled up. In September 2001, the work was partially stopped following an order from the District Office, as a heaped wall on the Studtweidbach had not been approved.

The full building permit was granted in August 2002, the official start of construction was at the end of September of the same year. After completing the preparatory work, the official laying of the foundation stone was celebrated on May 30, 2003.

The lifting ceremony (topping-out ceremony) took place on October 22, 2003, when the 260-tonne dome was placed on the steel structure of the pool. The official opening took place on May 1st, 2004.
