Mountain flax ( Thesium humile )

The mountain flax is an annual stem therophyte . The species reaches a stature height of 5 to 20 centimeters. The species has a thin taproot . The ruler leaves are serrated and fleshy. The partial inflorescences are almost sessile. The numerous nuts are up to 6 millimeters in size.

The flowering period extends from March to May.

The number of chromosomes is 2n = 18.

Occurrence

Mountain flax occurs in the Mediterranean region from Morocco to Turkey and Syria and on the Canary Islands. The species grows on fallow land, fields, phrygana and dunes.
