Terry Albritton

Terry Albritton (actually Terence Hillary Albritton ; born January 14, 1955 , † September 1, 2005 in Phnom Penh ) was an American shot putter .

In 1975 he won bronze at the Pan American Games in Mexico City .

At the beginning of the 1976 season, he improved Al Feuerbach's world record from 1973 by three centimeters to 21.85 m, but failed to take part in the Montreal Olympic Games as fourth in the US trials .

At the Athletics World Cup in 1977 he was fourth.

In 1976 and 1977 he was US outdoor champion, 1974 and 1976 indoor. Starting for the University of Hawaii , he became NCAA indoor champion in 1976 and NCAA champion for Stanford University in 1977. He also became French champion in 1977.

After serving 14 years as a teacher and trainer at St. Anthony High School in Maui , he moved to Southeast Asia in 2004, where he worked on writing projects. He died of a heart attack at the age of 50.
