Thierry Escaich
Thierry Escaich (born May 8, 1965 in Nogent-sur-Marne ) is a French organist , composer and university professor.
Life
He carried out his musical studies at the Conservatoire national supérieur de musique de Paris , where he received eight first prizes in harmony , counterpoint , fugue , organ playing , organ improvisation , analysis , composition and orchestration . He is also a prizewinner at major international composition and improvisation competitions.
In October 1992 Escaich was appointed professor of composition and improvisation at the Conservatoire national supérieur de musique de Paris, and since 1997 he has also been titular organist of the great organ of the parish church of Saint-Étienne-du-Mont in Paris , the former home of Maurice Duruflé and his wife Marie-Madeleine . In addition to these offices, he pursues an international career as a composer and concert organist. Escaich has been a member of the Académie des Beaux-Arts since 2013, succeeding Jacques Taddei .
