Alois Pachernegg (born April 21, 1892 in Irdning ; † August 13, 1964 in Vienna ) was an Austrian conductor and composer .

Life

In his early youth, Pachernegg was a choirboy at Admont Abbey . From 1906 to 1913 he attended the school of the Musikverein für Steiermark in Graz, where he studied cello, piano, music theory and conducting under Roderich Mojsisovics von Mojsvár .

Pachernegg worked as the municipal music director in Leoben before moving to Berlin in 1927, where he was a conductor at Universum Film (UFA) and radio . In 1934 he went to Vienna as a freelance composer. After the end of the Second World War he was appointed conductor of the great entertainment orchestra of the Austrian Broadcasting Corporation in Vienna .
