Thijs Waterink

Thijs Waterink (born December 26, 1968 ) is a former Dutch football player .

Career

In 1998 he moved from FC Den Bosch to the then second division club FC Gütersloh . There the defender completed 28 games and scored three goals. After relegation, he moved to Bundesliga club Arminia Bielefeld , where he was used 21 times. After only one year he went to the regional league for KSC , with which he rose. For this club he was active for two seasons in the second division and scored one goal in 57 games. In 2003 he finally moved to the regional league for SC Paderborn .

Involvement in the betting scandal

In April 2005, Waterink will be banned by the DFB until the end of the season. He had an agreement with the betting mafia that if he won the cup game directed by Robert Hoyzer against HSV, he would cash out. He then played for three years in the Netherlands for VV De Bataven and then ended his career.
