This Year's Model is a Swedish indie pop band from Karlstad and Stockholm . The band was named after Elvis Costello 's second album of the same name from 1978.

Band history

This Year's Model was initially planned in 2005 as a solo project by Niklas Gustafsson, who was a member of the bands The Higher Elevations and Friday Bridge at the time, because the German label Marsh-Marigold Records had signed a solo contract with him. But already during the recording of the first 7 "EP Greetings From This Year's Model a new band emerged from the solo project. This is how today's formation with Ylva Lindberg from Friday Bridge, Henric Strömberg from Thomas Denver Jonsson & the September Sunrise and Mattias Svensson from was found The Morons . In 2007 the band released The Clock Strikes Ten , which also featured guest musicians Bid of Scarlet's Well and The Monochrome Set . The extensive booklet included short stories by Vic Godard , Jessica Griffin and Dickon Edwards . 2008 released This Year's Model The download single No More Easter followed in 2011 with We Walk Like Ghosts, the band's second album - again on Marsh-Marigold Records.

style

Musically, This Year's Model moves between tastefully arranged jangle pops and elements from post-punk from The Fall , The Smiths and The Cure . Niklas Gustafsson is therefore reminiscent of Robert Smith's vocals .
