Thomas Antonius Cornelis Ancion (born March 3, 1957 in Wassenaar , Netherlands ) is a Dutch actor .

Life

Thomas Antonius Cornelis Ancion is the son of field hockey player Jules Ancion . During his school days he got to know the later auteur filmmaker Theo van Gogh . With him he wrote the script of his later first feature film Luger . After Ancion had already appeared in a number of Dutch television series, he made his screen debut in 1982 at the age of 25, without acting training and under the stage name Thom Hoffman , which he had previously used, in the leading role of Chris Luger in van Gogh's Luger .

In the love thriller Shabondama Elegy , published in 1999 and directed by Aryan Kaganof , Hoffman played one of the leading roles, where he actually had sex with the Japanese actress Mai Hoshino in front of the camera.

Hoffman was originally cast for the role of lead antagonist Dominic Greene in James Bond 007: Quantum of Solace . After he misinterpreted the role according to the producer, he was replaced by the French actor Mathieu Amalric .

Hoffman has been married to the Dutch actress Giam Kwee since May 30, 2005 . Both met while shooting the television series Russians together , in which Hoffman played the character of Paul de Vos alongside Hans Dagelet from 2000 to 2004 in 38 episodes , while Kwee played Liu Cha.
