Thomas A. Kolditz

Thomas A. Kolditz (born July 23, 1956 ) is a retired American officer in the United States Army ( retired brigadier general ), professor at Yale and West Point, author and management consultant .

Life

Thomas A. Kolditz studied psychology and sociology at Vanderbilt University (Bachelor, 1978) and social psychology at the University of Missouri (Master, 1981). He also went through the Command and General Staff College and the United States Army War College (Master, 2000). There he studied military science and strategic studies (Master, 2000). His Ph.D. in social psychology he graduated from the University of Missouri in 1985.

He worked as an analyst for the United States Department of Defense and a conceptualist at the Center for Army Leadership. He was also director of the West Point Leadership Center. Kolditz was head of the Department of Behavioral Sciences and Leadership at the United States Military Academy (USMA) in West Point for twelve years . In 2007 he became a visiting professor and, after his retirement, professor of leadership and management at the Yale School of Management at Yale University . He is also an employee of the management consultancy Saxon Castle LLC and author of the book Extremis Leadership: Leading as if Your Life Depended .

Kolditz is a Fellow of the American Psychological Association and a member of the Academy of Management and Academic in Residence of the Global Leadership Strategy Network.
