Thomas Barras

Thomas Barras (born January 7, 1994 ) is a British rower who was third in the singles at the 2017 World Championships .

Athletic career

Thomas Barras finished twelfth at the 2012 Junior World Championships with the double scull . In 2014 and 2015 he took part in the U23 World Championships in a double foursome , but missed the B final in each case. At the U23 World Championships in 2016 , he reached the A final in a single and finished fifth.

At the European Championships in 2017 , Thomas Barras, Jack Beaumont , Jonathan Walton and Peter Lambert rowed in double fours to fourth place, 0.25 seconds behind the third-placed Italians. Four months later, Barras competed in a single at the 2017 World Championships in Sarasota and won the bronze medal behind the Czech Ondřej Synek and the Cuban Ángel Fournier . In 2018 Barras returned to the double fours. In the Rowing World Cup , the British double scull won two out of three regattas. At the European Championships in Glasgow in 2018 , the British quadruple finished sixth. A month and a half later, the British double scull rowed to seventh place at the 2018 World Championships in Plovdiv. In 2019, Barras started again in one. He finished seventh at the European Championships in Lucerne and 14th place at the World Championships in Linz / Ottensheim .
