Thomas Bohlen

Thomas Bohlen (born April 23, 1968 in Aurich ) is a German geophysicist .

Live and act

After a diploma (1994), doctorate (1998) and habilitation in geophysics at the Christian-Albrechts-Universität zu Kiel , Bohlen received a professorship for prospecting geophysics at the Technical University Bergakademie Freiberg from 2006 to 2009 . He then became Professor of Applied Geophysics at the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (previously: University of Karlsruhe), succeeding Peter Hubral .

His main research interests are finite difference simulation of seismic waves (FD), inversion of seismic wave fields (FW T ) and imaging methods in reflection seismics . He is on the board of the German Geophysical Society (DGG) and a member of the Research College of Physics of the Earth (FKPE) and the Wave-Inversion-Technology Consortium (WIT). His third-party funded projects include both publicly and industry- funded projects.

He is also a member of the committee " final disposal of radioactive waste " of the Nuclear Waste Management Commission .
