Thomas Dahl

Thomas Dahl (* 1964 in Tönning ) is a German cantor and organist . Since 1996 he has been first church musician at the main church St. Petri in Hamburg .

Dahl studied church music, composition, musicology, music education and the organ in Hamburg, Stuttgart, Paris and Chicago with Heinz Wunderlich , Jon Laukvik , Willibald Bezler and Daniel Roth . Further studies led him to Wolfgang Rübsam and Jean Guillou . Until 1996 he was cantor at the Dreifaltigkeitskirche in Aachen and conductor of the Aachen Chamber Choir.

He has won several international organ and organ improvisation competitions, has made radio recordings and recorded CDs of organ works. He gave organ concerts in Notre-Dame de Paris , in Cologne Cathedral and in Westminster Abbey in London . At the main church St. Petri he led the Hamburg organ study days several times .

In December 2007 he was awarded the title of Church Music Director.
