Thomas Tellevik Dahl (born September 7, 1973 ) is a Norwegian fusion and jazz musician ( guitar , composition ) and music teacher who first became known in bands such as Krøyt and Dingobats .

Live and act

Dahl attended the Skeisvang videregående skole in Haugesund from 1989 to 1992 , was at the Sund folkehøgskole in Inderøy from 1992 to 1993, before completing the jazz course at the Trondheim Music Conservatory in 1998 .

From 1993 to 2005, Dahl belonged to the rock jazz trio Krøyt , together with fellow students Kristin Asbjørnsen and Øyvind Brandtsegg , which released several albums between 1997 and 2001. In addition, from 1995 to 2005 he was a member of the jazz quintet Dingobeats around Eirik Hegdal , with which three albums were created; he also belonged to Erlend Skomsvolls Skomsork . He also recorded with Linda Fosse Hagen, with Ephemera and Marion Raven, but also with the Bergen Big Band and with Mats Eilertsen's Rubicon . He has also released two albums with the BMX quartet , which also consists of Njål Ølnes, Øyvind Skarbø and Per Jørgensen .

Dahl's main projects are currently the groups Thomas Dahl & Court with Harmen Fraanje , Magne Thormodsæter and Håkon Mjåset Johansen , whose debut album Qulter was released in 2019 on Losen Records , as well as the Skydive Trio with Mats Eilertsen and Olavi Louhivuori , which released his first album Sun Moee (Hubro ) published.

Dahl has written commissioned works for the Nattjazz festival, in 2004 for Norsk Hydro and for Finsejazz in 2005. He composed Tomlane opp (2006) with Per Jørgensen and Frank Jakobsen . Dahl worked as a music teacher at the Music Conservatory in Trondheim and from 2002 to 2005 at the Agder Music Conservatory . In 2005 he was appointed adjunct professor at the Grieg Academy in Bergen, where he still teaches today.

Prizes and awards

Dahl won the Spellemannprisen 1999 for the album Low together with the group Krøyt ; with the same band he was awarded the Edvard Prize 2000 for the composition Silent in 2000. In 2002 he received the Vossajazz Prize .
