Thomas Deitmer (born June 18, 1954 in Hemer , Sauerland) is a German ENT doctor, associate professor and general secretary of the German Society for Ear, Nose and Throat Medicine, Head and Neck Surgery eV, Bonn. He specializes in pediatric ENT medicine including tracheal surgery in children and adults, acoustic neuromas and skull base surgery, tumor surgery, functional and aesthetic nasal surgery, and endonasal sinus surgery.

Life

Deitmer completed a medical degree at the University of Münster in Münster by 1979 and received his doctorate a year later. From 1980 to 1985 he worked as an assistant doctor and from 1985 to 1996 as senior physician at the ENT clinic of the University of Münster. In 1987 he completed his habilitation and was awarded the title of private lecturer and the license to teach ear, nose and throat medicine. In 1993 Deitmer was appointed adjunct professor at the University of Münster. Deitmer has the additional designation "plastic surgery" and "special ENT surgery".

In 1996 he was chief physician at the ENT clinic at the Augsburg Clinic for 6 months .

From 1996 to 2019 he was director of the ENT clinic with the department for phoniatrics and pediatric audiology at the Dortmund Clinic . Since August 1, 2019, he has been Secretary General of the German Society for Otorhinolaryngology, Head and Neck Surgery eV, Bonn.

From 2000 to 2011 he was chairman of the Association of ENT Chief Physicians in Germany. From 2006 to 2015 he was a member of the Presidium of the German Society for ENT Medicine, Head and Neck Surgery and held the office of President there from 2013/2014. In 2014 he was a founding member of the Pediatric ENT Medicine Working Group in the German Society for ENT Medicine, Head and Neck Surgery.

Memberships

Deitmer is a member of the German Society for ENT Medicine, Head and Neck Surgery and a member of working groups and working groups within the society. He was awarded the Society's Medal of Merit in 2017 for leading the GOÄ Commission for many years.

Deitmer is a member and national delegate of the European Society of Pediatric Otolaryngology , ESPO.

He is co-editor of the journal Laryngo-Rhino-Otologie .
