Thomas Demmelhuber

Thomas Demmelhuber (* 1980 in Passau ) is a German political scientist with a focus on the Middle East . Since 2015 he has held the Chair for Politics and Society of the Middle East at the Friedrich-Alexander-Universität Erlangen-Nürnberg . Since 2015 he has been visiting professor at the College of Europe, Natolin (Warsaw).

Demmelhuber studied Political Science and Middle Eastern Studies in Erlangen and at the University of California, Berkeley, and obtained his diploma in 2005. He received his doctorate in Erlangen in 2008 as a student of Thomas Philipp on EU Mediterranean policy in Egypt. From 2012 to 2015 he was junior professor for political science with a focus on politics and the Internet at the University of Hildesheim Foundation until he was appointed professor in Erlangen in 2015.
