Thomas E. Schmidt
Thomas E. Schmidt (* 1959 ) is a German journalist and editor in the features section of the weekly newspaper Die Zeit .
Life
Schmidt studied philosophy, German, linguistics and art history at the universities of Munich, Hamburg and Florence. With a thesis on the early romantic novel, he received his doctorate. phil. He worked in the culture department of ZDF in Mainz and was literary editor of the Frankfurter Rundschau . On March 1, 1999, he became head of the feature pages of the newspaper Die Welt and, since 1999, cultural correspondent for the weekly newspaper Die Zeit in Berlin. He is close to the Seeheimer Kreis of the SPD and helped Frank-Walter Steinmeier in 2009 to write his book "Mein Deutschland".
