Thomas Fabian
Thomas Fabian (born December 7, 1955 in Bonn ) is a German psychologist and Leipzig local politician ( SPD ).
Life
Fabian attended the German schools in Beirut , Kabul and Porto . From 1975 to 1976 he did his community service in Bielefeld. From 1977 to 1978 he was a Community Work Assistant in Renfrew near Glasgow . He then studied psychology at the University of Bremen . He graduated in 1985 with a diploma and a doctorate in 1992 for Dr. phil.
Since 1985 he has been a psychological expert for family, guardianship and criminal courts and a specialist psychologist for forensic psychology at the Professional Association of German Psychologists (BDP) and the German Society for Psychology (DGPs). From 1986 to 1992 he was a research assistant at the University of Bremen and in 1993 at the Westphalian Wilhelms University in Münster and in 1994 he became the first research assistant . From 1994 to 2006 he was Professor of Psychology at the University of Technology, Economics and Culture Leipzig (HTWK). He was the founding dean and from 1997 to 2003 dean of the social affairs department.
Fabian has been involved in local politics in Leipzig since 2004. From 2004 to 2006 he was a city councilor for the SPD. Since 2006 he has been mayor of the city of Leipzig (in Saxon cities there are several mayor and a mayor) and Alderman for youth, social, health and school.
